      Release date: 2012

"Assetto Corsa" is an Italian term, meaning "race prepared", which echoes the passion of every racer in their quest for pure automotive performance.
Therefore, it's an appropriate title for this racing simulation for the Windows PC dedicated to motorsport and the automotive world. This simulation game is set to include several kinds of vehicles: Road cars, GT cars, LMP prototypes, track-day cars, as well as modern and historic single seaters.

Version 1.0 will feature several tracks, including some of the most famous locations in motorsport. These tracks have been reproduced using laser scanning technology, which maps every bump and characteristic of the track. This allows the software to realistically reproduce the behaviour of the car when pushed it to its limits.

Assetto Corsa is the first video game that will use the new "AC Engine" developed by Kunos Simulazioni: the AC engine is a new software technology based on Microsoft DirectX11, designed on the basis of the know-how accumulated by the development team, that thanks to the recent experience with Ferrari, has worked as close as you can get with the highest profiles of motorsport and is now developing a software platform capable of meeting the needs of racing enthusiasts, videogame players, professional real and virtual racers.

The concept for "Assetto Corsa" was born in 2008, and developed in parallel with the team's more public projects. The new technology was never intended to be an evolution of the netKar PRO line, but more like a completely new approach to simulation software, based on the lessons learned in ten years of activity in this field.

In addition, the positive reviews gathered by Netkar PRO and Ferrari Virtual Academy have provided the informations needed to create a new racing game that will meet the expectations of the community and sim.racers: real cars, real tracks, various game modes, a complete and satisfying single player experience, with the chance to customize the game with cars, circuits and contents made by the community itself.

Assetto Corsa is a new PC-based racing game for Windows, expected to be released in 2012. Assetto Corsa is being designed to provide a very realistic driving experience, with single player and multiplayer options, officially licensed cars and tracks developed using Laser scan technology, and the highest level of accuracy possible in reproducing real world motor racing environments. Also, Assetto Corsa will allow for considerable customisation and modification, in order to satisfy the expectations of professional simracers, gamers who prefer to approach the driving experience more progressively, and hobbyists who just like to collect lots of cars and tracks.

Assetto Corsa takes advantage of the experience acquired by the Kunos Simulazioni team with the development of netKar PRO and FerrariVirtual Academy, both titles being notable as two of the best in the genre for their advanced physics model and vehicle dynamics. Our R&D office, located just inside the international racing circuit of Vallelunga, allows the team to develop the game with the cooperation of real world racing drivers and racing teams. The Assetto Corsa physics engine has been designed and coded from the ground up, using practical knowledge acquired from working closely with the elite of motorsport in order to engineer the best possible accuracy of physics and tactility of feeling. A physics engine like this begs to be used with officially licensed content: As such, Assetto Corsa will include renditions of international circuits, global car brands, racing prototypes, historic cars, single seaters and some of the most iconic cars ever built, providing a complete, and exciting, racing experience!

Every day simracing enthusiasts write to us asking for us to add support for modding and customisation to our products. We recognize that in the simracing community there are a lot of talented people able to recreate cars and tracks with accuracy and passion, often to a better standard than commercial products. As such, we have decided to design Assetto Corsa as a modular simulation system that allows players to express themselves at their best by creating the mods they desire. Therefore, within Assetto Corsa the interface, overlays and the core software are designed to be fully customizable allowing additional mods made by the simracing community to enhance the simulation, allowing it to thrive. Can't find your favourite car or track? With Assetto Corsa, you will be able to make it yourself! Also, Assetto Corsa will include several racing, practice, and competition options in order to satisfy any need for fun and entertainment.

      DEV BLOG

During the development of Assetto Corsa, we will be collecting videos, pictures and writing a development diary. Soon we will be sharing with the community “The Making of Assetto Corsa"development blog: From here you can follow us to discover how we develop Assetto Corsa, look inside our facilities, and behind the scenes at some of the most famous racing circuits and car brands. See for yourself the hard work and skill that goes into the production of a racing simulation.

Assetto Corsa is an independent project fully funded entirely by Kunos Simulazioni. Like you, we are driven by a passion for racing games and motorsport. We have re-invested our resources and funds in order to remain independent, since we believe this is the only way to produce a genuine simulation. Assetto Corsa will include official licensed contents (like car brands and race circuits) reproduced using Laser scan Technology. Official licensing and Laser scanning put a heavy demand on a small independent development team like Kunos Simulazioni in terms of the money required.

From December 1, 2011, all earnings from the sales of netkar PRO and our royalties from Ferrari Virtual Academy sales will be re-invested to acquire licenses for cars and tracks in addition to those that will be included in the version 1.0release of Assetto Corsa.

      About Kunos Simulazioni

Kunos Simulazioni is an Italian software house formed by a team of people strongly motivated by the passion for motorsport, who cover several responsibilities: game engine programming, sound and physical modeling, vehicle dynamics, graphic representation of cars and race tracks reproduced using innovative technologies.
The R&D office, located inside Vallelunga racing circuit, allows the team to be in touch with the drivers and teams hosted on the track during private tests and race weekends; this gives the chance to acquire data from the racing teams and feedback from the drivers who test the simulation software. The chance to receive different opinions and feedback, rather than rely on a "testimonial drivers", can produce a more truthful input and provides a significant advantage in creating a highly realistic driving simulation.

Following this strategy, over the past three years, Kunos Simulations has acquired extensive know-how, which allowed the development of a new improved physics model that will surpass the already critically acclaimed engine behind our productions “netKar PRO” and “Ferrari Virtual Academy”.
The opportunity to have a “domestic” circuit not only provides a smart comparison of simulation algorithms, but also allows the team to contain costs of research and development: the careful management of costs is essential, being Kunos Simulazioni an independent studio whose birth and growth is based exclusively on the professional resources of its founders and the revenue generated by its productions.

With the launch of “Assetto Corsa”, the team is back in the game, investing its resources in carrying out an ambitious new project with the aim to become a milestone in the virtual world of racing.

As the P4/5 Competizione starts winter testing; this fine machine also arrives in Assetto Corsa's garage.
We are pleased to announce that Kunos Simulazioni will be joining the vision of James Glickenhaus, as the P4/5 Competizione will be officially included in our upcoming racing simulation, Assetto Corsa.

This amazing race car, born from a Ferrari 430 Scuderia, and a Ferrari 430 GT2, will be reproduced based on its official CAD and technical data in stunning detail. Taking the experience of competing in the 2011 Nurburgring 24 hour endurance race, the 2012 model of the P4/5 Competizione features significant updates affecting performance, handling and appearance. Assetto Corsa will include both the 2011 and 2012 GT2 prototypes, allowing sim-drivers to explore the development of the vehicle.

The Kunos team were recently admitted in to a private test session of the P4/5 Competizione racing team, in order to collect all the required data needed to virtually reproduce the P4/5 in its appearance, sound and handling with ultimate accuracy.

"In Winter 2011, while we were discussing which car licenses to choose for Assetto Corsa, a racing team arrived at Vallelunga race circuit, where our studios are based.” Explains Marco Massarutto of Kunos development team, “they seemed to be testing an unusual race car prototype that we had never seen before. After we had seen it on track, and heard its glorious V8 song, we decided that this car should not be missing in Assetto Corsa's virtual garage.

So we got in touch with their team director, and after we met him, we not only liked the car itself, but also the attitude of the owner, a real motorsport enthusiast who loves to share his passion with everybody, and we were enamoured by the spirit that had driven the creation of this machine. James Glickenhaus realised a dream, not for a mere purpose, but for himself and for motorsports enthusiasts. We love this attitude, and the P4/5 Competizione expresses it so well. With Assetto Corsa there will be another way to share this vision."

      Also hier das Video:

Folgende Fahrzeuge und Strecken wurden bislang offiziell angekündigt:
      - KTM X-BOW R
      - 500 Abarth SS
      - P 4/5 Competizione
      - Formel Abarth Tatuus FA 01
      - Lotus 49
      - Lotus 72
      - Lotus Exos T125
      - Lotus Exige 2012
      - Lotus 98 T
      - Lotus 2 Eleven
      - Lotus Evora
      - BMW Z4 GT3
      - BMW M3 E30
      - BMW 1er M Coupe
      - Pagani Zonda R
